Sorry for the lack in posts, we were in Mendoza and have both been out sick. I will spare you the details (of the sickness not Mendoza).
Here we have yet another post on Maui, Hawaii, specifically, our second stop on the Road to Hana.
After our “hike” in the bamboo forest of death, we made a few brief stops to take photos of the views on the Road to Hana.
These brief stops occurred more so because traffic was backed up on the Road to Hana, rather than actual must see stops. However in general, the Road to Hana is worth one of your days on Maui.
The Views
The views really are beautiful.
The Road to Hana drive is quite stressful with other drivers. One lady saw we were almost in the middle of a one lane bridge, and proceeded to drive on to the bridge and give us the “shame shame” sign.
Seriously?! 1) you are on vacation and 2) Yes, you have a sign that your side has the right of way, but not when someone is already on the bridge.
As we were squeezing by her, I gave her a sign of my own.
Mind out of the gutter people. I blew her a kiss. I have found this gesture infuriates people more than the middle finger. Mission accomplished.
A Story that has Nothing to do with Maui
Onetime, Mr. J thought my gesture was going to get us shot in Browntown (yes, it is a real place).
I told him the wrong direction per usual. We were of course straddling the left turn lane and straight lane.
This made the lady that pulled up behind us exceedingly mad. I can only assume she was so angry because she was’t first in line or she was jealous of our rental car.
We were not blocking her from doing anything (the light was still red and on the green arrow we would be turning left out of her way, so she could go straight). So, I am not clear why this situation made her rise to the level of DEFCON 2 anger.
Here is our conversation during the experience:
Mr. J: You are the worst at directions.
Mrs. J: It’s fine. I can just have the GPS talk to you.
Mr. J: Look, you made me piss of that lady behind us. She is really mad.
Mrs. J: I don’t get why she is so mad. Don’t worry, I will make it better.
I turn around and blow her a kiss.
Mr. J: I can’t believe you did that. You are going to get us shot. Look at her face. It’s is going to explode.
I start laughing at Mr. J, which made her angrier (a lot of hand movements and hitting the steering wheel and dashboard).
Mr. J: You need to stop, and this light needs to change now.
Mrs. J: Oh, she doesn’t have a gun. She would have been waving it by now, if she did. Besides, she is not going to shoot us with he kid in the car.
Mr. J eye roll.
Luckily, the green arrow appeared, and we drove to our destination. She went straight, and we never saw her again.
And scene…..back to Maui.
Back on Track, More of the Road to Hana
Many vistas, rivers and water falls to see along the way.
We felt the drive and the beach was too crowded to bring out the drone.
As you can see, a camera works just fine to capture the beauty.
Hana, Maui
Upon arriving in Hana, we had lunch at the beach and walked around.
It’s nice, but nothing really unique about the beach itself. Really, this trip is about the drive more so than the destination. Obviously, this is my opinion.
However, it is a beach which is awesome, and it’s a great place to have a break before the drive back.
After spending some time on the beach, we stopped at a roadside fruit stand for some fresh fruit and coffee.
After stocking up on papaya, lychees and pineapples, we started on our drive back to the condo making our two final stops on the way, the Rainbow eucalyptus trees and a top wind sport beach.
